The tobacco wastewater treatment station is located in Karawang, West Java Province, Indonesia. It is the largest tobacco manufacturer in Indonesia, Sambo Lin Company, which invests in the construction of a factory for the production of electronic cigarettes IQOS in the area. This high-tech factory invests $166.1 million and provides tobacco production facilities for the HEETS brand of IQOS. For Sambo Lin Company, this new factory is the seventh in the world and the second in Asia, second only to South Korea. For the local government, it is also an important livelihood project. During the construction period of the sewage treatment station, nearly 1,000 jobs are provided for the local people. Process Introduction

The key technology of the project MBR flat membrane process characteristics are as follows:

Membrane bioreactor (MBR: Membrane Bioreactor) is a new high efficiency sewage treatment process combining high efficiency membrane separation technology and traditional activated sludge method. It replaces the secondary sedimentation tank in the traditional activated sludge method with membrane components, retains the microbial flora of the biological system, promotes the accumulation of the number and types of microbial flora in the system, improves the sewage treatment capacity and efficiency, and thus greatly improves the water quality of the system.

Working principle of MBR flat membrane bioreactor

  • The flat membraneis placed vertically in the aerobic tank;
  • Water and small molecules enter the water production pipeline through the membrane surface under the action of negative pressure, and macromolecules are intercepted on the membrane surface;
  • The high concentration of activated sludge mixture in the membrane tank efficiently degrades organic pollutants under aerobic conditions;
  • The aeration bubbles wash the flat membrane surface vertically without dead angle, making the membrane surface not easy to accumulate pollutants, so as to maintain a constant water production flux.

The process characteristics of MBR flat membrane:

  • MBR flat membrane can withstand higher sludge concentration, high system load, and saves land.
  • MBR flat membrane has high pollution resistance, the front end does not need to set the membrane grid, and the MBR flat membrane system is simple and does not need frequent backwashing.
  • MBR flat membrane operation and maintenance is simple, no need to offline cleaning pool, only need to online cleaning, damage can be online monolithic replacement, no need to lift the membrane assembly.
